Marie Ashford and Brett Bowen
All About Mrs. Ashford
Welcome to Catawba Springs! I am thrilled to introduce myself as the Principal of Catawba Springs Elementary. I received my undergrad degree from Ball State University. I earned my masters degree from Gardner-Webb University. I have been with Lincoln County Schools for 19 years. The first 5 years I taught in Tennessee. I am a mother of two girls. Clara is in 6th grade and Charlize is in 4th grade. We have two puppies. Cora the Corgi who is 2 years old. Winnie the yellow lab is not even a year. When I moved to North Carolina I had the pleasure to teach at Catawba Springs. When I came back to be the principal it was like coming home.
With over 24 years of experience in education, I am passionate about creating a nurturing and dynamic learning environment where every student can thrive. My journey in education began as a classroom teacher, and I have since served in various leadership roles, each deepening my commitment to fostering academic excellence and holistic development. I am dedicated to building strong partnerships with parents, teachers, and the community to ensure our students receive the best possible education.
At Catawba Springs, our focus is on cultivating a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where each child's unique strengths are recognized and nurtured. I believe in open communication and collaboration, and I welcome your input and involvement in your child's educational journey. Together, we can create a positive and enriching experience that prepares our students for success in school and beyond. I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to working with you to make this school year a memorable and successful one for all our students.

All About Mr. Bowen
It is my pleasure to serve my third year as the Assistant Principal of Catawba Springs Elementary for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.
I grew up in Lincoln County and my wife and I met while attending East Lincoln Middle School. After 8 years of marriage and many memories later, we now have two children, Nell (4 years old) and Sully (2 years old). We live in Iron Station and love our little lives. We love to travel as a family and our current goal is to visit all of the National Parks in the United States. My wife is a school counselor at East Lincoln High School and is an incredible mother and partner.
I received my Bachelor's degree from Appalachian State University and my Master's degree from UNCG. With previous classroom experience as a high school math teacher, I plan to be attentive in our school and community, present in the classrooms and building, and approachable in all situations, large or small. I believe in growth for students, staff, and especially myself. As a former student of Catawba Springs years ago, I am eager to give back to the students and families of our community.
Please reach out if you have any questions and I hope to hear from you soon.
